Plans put forward for major development in Thanington, Kent

Plans for building up to 750 new homes, a business park, sports pitches and community facilities on land off Cockering Road, Thanington, have been officially submitted to Canterbury City Council, a recent news report in the local media has been able to find.

The ‘Thanington Park’ scheme designed by Pentland Properties would also include a new site for Pilgrims Hospice, a 60-bed nursing home, a primary school and a new park & ride site with up to 600 spaces.

The new homes will be built in a variety of sizes (five-bedroom houses to one-bedroom flats), types and tenures.

A spokesman for Pentland Properties said: "We believe the proposal is an attractive and sustainable option that will stimulate growth.

"There is also a very attractive package of community benefits that will be unlocked by this proposed development. We are encouraged by the display of support by Canterbury residents at the public exhibition we held last month."
