Plans put forward for new 150-room hotel and specialist cancer treatment centre near Brighton

Plans for developing a 150-room hotel and specialist cancer treatment centre adjacent to the American Express Community Stadium have been recently lodged with Brighton & Hove City Council and Lewes District Council, a news report in the local media has been able to reveal.

The hotel, which would be known as the Brighton Aloft, will help The Seagulls develop a "stronger residential conference centre offering" to help serve and increase the non-matchday business at the stadium.

It is expected to provide an additional £5.8m in revenue each year to the local economy and create approximately 80 jobs.

Both the hotel and cancer treatment centre are subject to a business case and board approval – by Albion and the Brighton and Sussex University Hospitals NHS Trust respectively.
