Plans approved for new residential development scheme in Havant

Plans put forward for a new residential development scheme in Havant have received the green light, with construction work set to start in the near future, a news report has revealed.

The 48 new homes – a mixture of houses, flats and accessible flats – will be built on council-owned land to the rear of Blendworth Crescent, with the £7.3m project targeted for completion by spring 2018.

Almost 40 per cent of the properties will be let privately at affordable rates, while the remainder will be made available through Havant Borough Council’s choice-based letting system Hampshire Home Choice.

Cabinet member for housing Steve Wemyss said: "We are committed to building high quality new homes to ease pressure on the housing waiting list and to generate income for the council.

"I am really pleased that work can now start on this project because it shows how important housing development is to us."
