Guildford residential development plans recommended for approval
Plans to build up to 50 homes on land in Tongham, Guildford, have been recommended for approval despite opposition to the proposal, a recent news report in the local business media has revealed.
Gleeson Developments is seeking permission to develop a site off Grange Road on land within the countryside beyond the green belt.
Of the 50 homes proposed, 18 would be affordable.
The application has attracted opposition, with issues cited including a lack of infrastructure, overcrowding in Tongham and congestion.
However benefits arising from the scheme, including the introduction of additional market and affordable housing, and increased economic activity, were said to outweigh any harm.
The approval recommendation is subject to the agreement of planning conditions.
