Last week the new seaside-inspired swimming pool, Splash, was opened, requiring new staff members. These include 39 lifeguards, four gardeners, four pool cleaners, five food and beverage recruits, two receptionists and a pool photographer.

These new staff members hired by Butlins are all good examples of the types of positions which typically work for an hourly wage. 

 

It is common for staff who are paid by the hour to be asked to keep track of those hours. There are many different ways of gathering this information, but far too many businesses still rely on employees filling in manual paper timesheets. 

 

These are incredibly inefficient for supervisors to check, and there is no way to confirm the information. Filling them in by hand also means that bad handwriting can result in payroll staff misreading the data as they type it up.

 

A good way to counteract this problem is to replace the timesheets with a computerised system. Even filling in timesheets on a computer wold remove the effort of collecting and deciphering them from the supervisors, but if accuracy is what you want then you need a full time and attendance system.

 

Using a system from Time and Attendance South East, staff could clock in and out using either radio-frequency smartcards, which fit easily onto a lanyard or into a uniform pocket, or their fingerprints. This data is then sent to the central system and can be easily exported for payroll or turned into reports using the report wizard.
