Aerospace Centre gains new blue-chip occupant

Discover Financial Services, a direct bank and payments partner, will relocate its Head Office to the Farnborough Aerospace Centre.

The company will move into the Ascent 3 building, which is one of the four buildings owned by Hermes Investment Management, after signing a lease for 12 years. The Ascent 3 building is being redeveloped by Hale Architecture, and should be completed later this month, along with the Ascent 1 building.

The Ascent buildings make up 250,000 sq ft in total and have 1,200 parking spaces between them. Farnborough Aerospace Centre is the corporate headquarters for BAE Systems. Other companies currently located at the Centre includes Zurich Insurance, Infor, Fluor and Lockheed Martin.

Ian Cody, director of asset management at Hermes Investment Management, said: "With an increase in innovative blue chip companies joining Farnborough’s renowned traditional occupiers, this signing proves Hermes Investment Management’s decision to invest capital in the Ascent estate is a timely response to a market gap.

"We are pleased to welcome Discover Financial Services to Ascent 3 as our first new tenant, and look forward to seeing the company reap the benefits of the building and wider Farnborough Aerospace Centre offering."

Moving into new premises is the prime time to take stock of your time and attendance management systems and make changes if necessary.
This is particularly important if further staffing expansion is planned, since this will put stress on things like on-boarding procedures, payroll processing and keeping up to date with timesheets.

Our WinTA.NET workplace management system can smooth out any problems that you may be having.

The largest source of improvements that we see are from companies which still use some kind of paper recording system.

This might be a paper sign-in sheet for daily hours or fire roll call, or it might be weekly or monthly timesheets meant to be passed to accounts for payroll processing.

Getting employees to record their hours worked directly onto paper is not only open to fraud and mistakes, it also makes room for human error further up the chain.

Managers have to collect all the timesheets – what if they lose them? Whoever need to transcribe the sheets in order to input hours worked into the payroll program is likely to fall victim to employee’s bad handwriting and forgetfulness.

Thankfully there’s an easy solution. When employees clock in using our clocking terminals (these accept smartcard or biometric data) the information is recorded by the software and can be exported straight to your payroll software.

Minimal human involvement means minimum human error and gives your employees more time to be productive.
