Jobs lost as bakery ingredients supplier goes into administration

A total of 74 members of staff at a Kent-based bakery ingredients wholesaler have been made redundant after the company ceased trading and entered administration, a news report in the local media has been able to reveal.

BFP Wholesale employed 165 staff across four UK sites and had to call in administrators after undergoing a "sustained period of declining revenues", which was exacerbated by the withdrawal of its credit insurance, the administrators said.

The business’ operations in Sevenoaks and Highbridge have ceased trading and a total of 74 staff have been made redundant.

But the joint administrators have completed a partial sale of the business and its assets to a subsidiary of Kent Foods. C&C 25 Ltd has acquired the operations of the Leeds and Livingston sites and all of the company’s stock, safeguarding about 90 jobs.
