New housing scheme in Southampton granted planning permission
The first phase of an extensive redevelopment plan that will see a Southampton housing estate being replaced with hundreds of new homes has been given the green light by local councillors, a recent news report in the local media has been able to find.
The Townhill Park redevelopment scheme has been approved by the Southampton City Council, with the wider plans involving the demolition of 426 council-owned flats to make way for 675 new homes.
The first phase of the three-phase development is for 276 houses in buildings rising up to seven storeys high.
The project will also include new shops and public space and Construction work is expected to begin on the first phase at Meggeson Avenue next year, with the full development taking up to ten years to complete.
