Residential developer to underpin more than 2,110 local jobs in the South East

One of the UK’s largest residential developers, Barratt Homes, has revealed plans to build more than 1,000 new homes across six sites in Kent, underpinning more than 2,110 local jobs, a news report has been able to find.

The proposals include new homes in Hythe, Maidstone and Harrietsham, and follow a "strong recovery in the housing market following the success of the Help to Buy scheme".

The sites include the Martello Lakes development in Dymchurch Road, Hythe, and The Orchards (pictured) at Lamberhurst Road in Allington, Maidstone.

"We have seen demand for new homes expand very quickly over the year and the new sites we are opening mean that there will be more choice for local buyers," sales and marketing director Pam Reardon.

"And it’s good news for the local economy as in addition to the local construction jobs underpinned by building the new homes, the local people who move into the new housing will also spend their wages locally. It’s an extra boost for Kent’s economy."
