The two hotels are the Canterbury Hotel and the Castle House Hotel. They are currently owned by Lynda Desmarais, and can be bought either as a pair or separately. 

 

Both of these hotels have a long history. The Canterbury Hotel is thought to be one of the oldest of that sort in the city, and the Castle Hotel was first recorded in the 1730s. They also both have 15 bedrooms. The Canterbury is seeking offers of around £1.55 million and the Castle House is seeking slightly more, at £1.75 million. 

 

Paul Barrasford, a director in the hotels agency team at Colliers International, said: "Canterbury is one of the region’s most visited tourist destinations and an important South East hub with a vibrant local economy.

 

"Both hotels, with their combination of great location and product offering, are ideally placed to capitalise on the high levels of leisure and corporate visitors to the area.

 

"Each hotel is an established business in its own right and so we expect to receive strong interest in the hotels both on a joint and individual basis."

Lynda Desmarais added: "It has been a difficult decision to sell, particularly Castle House as it was my first hotel.

 

"Alongside our hard working teams, we have thoroughly enjoyed establishing the Castle House and Canterbury as two of the finest hotels in Canterbury."

The hotel industry, along with the retail and cleaning industries, is still heavily reliant on a mixture of types of staffing, such as zero-hours and agency staff as well as permanent part-time and full-time employees.
