Work starts on new £11m manufacturing facility in Surrey

Building work has recently started on a new £11m headquarters and manufacturing facility in Surrey that is set to house the future operations of manufacturer Vision Engineering, a recent news report has been able to suggest.

The 64,500 sq ft scheme is located in the Surrey village of Send, behind Vision Engineering’s existing factory in Send Road, which is set to be replaced with a new 23-home development. The company also has a base in Monument Way, West Woking. It will include a single-storey building and mezzanine, providing high specification office accommodation and a factory production and assembly facility.

Vision Engineering specialises in the manufacture of ergonomic stereo microscopes and non-contact measuring systems. Its equipment is used for quality control of manufactured items including mobile phones, cars, aircraft engines and medical devices.

The company’s new headquarters and manufacturing centre will allow it to consolidate its operations in Send and Woking under one roof.

Mark Curtis, group managing director of Vision Engineering, said: "The creation of a new global HQ and modern factory is the major part of a long-term strategy to keep Vision Engineering at the forefront of a very competitive and very global market.

"We and our architects and lead consultants BBF Fielding searched carefully for a construction partner who had the ability to produce a mixed use building which has, at its core, high tech R&D, machining and assembly facilities, but also very presentable demonstration, training and office facilities."
